Following up on the last accountability reports end, I will begin at Summers start. Summer was an incredibly busy time for myself! I had finally finished the collection of Parliamentarian advertisements and could commence the donation seeking. Through coordination with both Jordan and Brittany, it was decided that I would look for larger donations while they both secured donations for specific events; Brittany went above and beyond and took on the task of contacting several large corporations. After almost one hundred outbound letters, I unfortunately did not receive any feedback besides a lot of sorries. However, as of late, I have been pumping up our ability to advertise and build ties with the community. Most notably, I have been in contact with the Luther College High School and ways we could mutually benefit. I was upset I could not secure any donations for SYP, but I feel that I did give it the best I could.
As summer wrapped up, I switched gears. I am now in the process of contacting MLAs and MPs about parliamentarian ad space. I have also decided to release space to councillors, or any contenders, to the cities of Regina and Saskatoon as both have elections in 2012. I feel this is a real chance to increase profit. I hope to have the letters all mailed by the middle of next week, and will submit all ads I receive to Tiffany whenever she sets the deadline. I hope this is an area I can really succeed in as I feel that my late start really delayed my possible opportunities in the first half of the year.
Furthermore, I am quite excited to promote and sell the new merchandise! It is absolutely fantastic and I think it is something we can all be proud to wear. I cannot take the credit for the clothing either. The finance committee took on the task of replenishing the stock and through consultation with the whole executive the decision was made. I am extremely proud that it was able to be done while I was overseeing the process.
Moving into the fall, just as the politicians in our province are set to do, I plan to hit the ground running and finish the year strong.
