Hi there,

The last few months in my 'Saskatchewan Youth Parliament Life' have been moderately busy. Since summertime, myself along with our membership group has brainstormed all kinds of ways to recruit new members to SYP.

We decided to contact both the Saskatchewan Party Youth and Saskatchewan Young New Democrats to encourage members of their organizations that obviously politically minded to come to SYP and debate. I have talked to an SYP Alumni, Nolan Blackstock, who is a member of the Saskatchewan Party Youth, and he is going to help us advertise for Christmas Session, as this works best with his groups events and meetings.

I also worked on designing a new Poster for Saskatchewan Youth Parliament. I wanted to create something that was 'cool' and eye-catching. I think that it turned out well. I have been in contact with the President of the Saskatchewan Association of Student Council Advisors, and she is going to help us spread the message of Saskatchewan Youth Parliament to other Student Leadership Council Advisors across Saskatchewan. These teachers know first-hand the leaders in their schools, and I feel they will do a great job encouraging their students to attend Saskatchewan Youth Parliament events.

I was in charge of getting us a spot at the Saskatchewan Student Leadership Conference that was held in Kindersley this year, and unfortunately was unable to attend myself since I live in Minot, North Dakota, which is really far away from Kindersley. Jordan Sherbino and Daisy Martinez went for me, and were pleased to report that it was a success.

I am looking forward to keeping trying new ways to get new members out to SYP, and am gearing up for our big membership push for Session 2011.
